The Role
As part of the Testing Team, Software Testers contribute to the improvement and innovation of our knowledge management software. Working in an Agile Scrum environment, you will work with colleagues across several teams in the planning, development and execution of manual and automated test scripts to qualitatively assess releases and upgrades to desktop and web applications according to business requirements and our testing strategy. As part of the testing process, you will be responsible for detecting, reporting and tracking software defects through to resolution.
Key responsibilities
Devise test plans based on acceptance criteria and provide time estimation for testing activities on desktop and web applications
Producing, executing and reporting on functional and non-functional test cases according to agreed test design standards and requirements. Modifying tests if necessary following analysis of results and risks or anomalies
Enable the quality of new software features and releases by testing to the required standards
Actively participate in daily scrums and other sprint meetings, including identifying areas for improvement
Identify and triage bugs to maintain a stable codebase. This may include working with developers in identifying and implementing work arounds as well as long term fixes
Maintain test documentation and revise as needed to improve testing function and practices
Contribute to an environment which encourages sharing of good practice, technical knowledge and product knowledge to the wider delivery team, including developers, testers, and product
About You
Experience of manual and automated testing of desktop and web applications in an Agile Scrum environment incl. iterative development, design reviews, personas, example mapping
Good understanding of all types of functional and non-functional testing
Experience of scripting test plans in Gherkin
Excellent written and spoken communication skills with thorough attention to detail whilst maintaining awareness of the bigger picture
Working knowledge of testing desktop & web applications across multiple platforms incl. UI testing, and accessibility testing to meet WCAG AA standard
Exposure to security testing (OWASP) and use of the Visual Studio suite
Good knowledge of API testing
Competent user of Azure DevOps, GIT
Understanding of test automation frameworks incl. the test coverage of automated tests in Selenium, BackstopJS, Postman; tests via CICD pipelines
Basic knowledge of SQL
Keen interest in new technologies and applications to our business area
ISTQB Certification (preferred not essential)
