Clarity, Continuity and Collaboration
Loughborough University transformed its legal operations with Iken, improving visibility, continuity, and client service across departments.
As a trusted partner for in-house legal teams, Iken was proud to take part in the AULP Annual Conference 2025, hosted this year at the University of York.
The conference was a valuable chance to connect with dedicated university legal professionals, hear what matters most to small teams, and share how Iken Cloud supports their unique ways of working.
Throughout the event, we had many honest conversations and delivered mini demos showing how the right legal tools make collaboration, compliance and insight simpler, even for the smallest teams.
“It was brilliant to hear directly from so many diverse university legal teams about what really helps them work better together. The interest in Iken Cloud and the positive conversations showed how much appetite there is for smarter, connected ways of working.”

Community, Insights and Opportunity
This year’s conference reminded us just how much university legal teams achieve with lean resources. Many teams we spoke to are made up of just one to five people, highly committed professionals who want to stay connected, prove their value, and work flexibly.
A standout insight was the growing importance of Contracts Research teams as a route into wider university adoption. Many attendees shared how these larger, process-driven teams could benefit from smarter systems and integration, providing an opportunity to deliver immediate value and strengthen the case for broader legal transformation.
Hearing stories from professionals who’ve moved from private practice to in-house roles also highlighted the importance of tools that support flexible and hybrid working: helping teams do meaningful legal work in ways that fit their lives.
“It was inspiring to see how dedicated these teams are. The mini demos showed there’s real appetite for better tools, and it was great to hear interest from Sheffield Hallam, Leeds and Newcastle universities all in a brilliant setting.”

Moving Forward Together
We left AULP 2025 inspired by the openness and optimism we saw. Small teams, big ideas, that’s what makes the Higher Education legal community so special.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in York and to those who shared thoughts on how Iken Cloud can continue to make a difference for university legal teams.
